The first meeting / test-run of the UBC psychology cafe will be held on Feb. 14, 2019. We will address the issue of rising narcissism.

Here are few questions to get you thinking ahead of our discussion:

    1. What evidence do you see for narcissism increasing, if any? Do you believe this is a big problem?
    2. Is narcissism a Western problem, or a global one?
    3. What factors might be causing or contributing to a rise in narcissism if there is one? (This is a pretty big question and one we’ll spend some time on. We’ll consider technology, the media, social media, overpopulation, culture…to name a few.)
    4. What are the implications? Concerns? Where do you see this/us headed?
    5. What are the concerns around narcissism in politics and government specifically?
    6. What can we do about it, if anything?
    7. How concerned are you? Do you have any personal experiences with narcissism that have made you more concerned?

    Date: Feb. 14, 2019
    Time: 4:00pm to 5:30pm
Location: POND 4038A & 4038B, University of British Columbia
